FAO-Forest Resource Assessment 2000

FRA 2000 was the first assessment to use a homogeneous set of definitions globally and it is to date the most comprehensive assessment of the global forest resources (incl. Rate of Deforestation). FRA 2000 was based on information provided and validated by the countries, supplemented by state of the art technology to verify and analyse the information

IRRI World Rice Statistics

World rice statistics (WRS), which is published periodically by IRRI, presents comprehensive time series information related to rice. Data on rice production (Average Rice Yield), trade, consumption, inputs, prices, and other related information are compiled from international and national statistical sources, personal communications, and from responses to questionnaires sent by IRRI's Social Sciences Division.

The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species provides taxonomic, conservation status and distribution information on taxa that have been evaluated using the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria (Threatened Species)

UNEP WCMC Species Database

The UNEP-WCMC Species Database includes data on 70710 animals and 88783 plants of conservation interest as well as 86384 sub-species, stocks or synonyms. Sub-sets of data from the Species Database have been tailored to different user needs and can be interrogated on the web, providing differing views of the central database.

WCPA World Database on Protected Areas

The World Database on Protected Areas is the result of a collaboration between UNEP-WCMC and the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA). It is compiled and managed with the support of a wide range of national and international organizations, including protected area agencies in most countries.

FAOSTAT

FAOSTAT is an on-line and multilingual database currently containing over 3 million time-series records covering international statistics in various areas including agriculture, forestry, fisheries and population.

FAO AQUASTAT

AQUASTAT is FAO's global information system of water and agriculture developed by the Land and Water Development Division of FAO. The objective of AQUASTAT is to provide users with comprehensive information on the state of agricultural water management across the world, with emphasis on developing countries and countries in transition

   

UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Center

The UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre provides information for policy and action to conserve the living world. The programmes concentrate on species, forests, protected areas, marine, mountains and freshwaters; plus habitats affected by climate change such as polar regions. We also address the relationship between trade and the environment and the wider aspects of biodiversity assessment

UNSTATS

UNSTATS provided to selected global datasets, such as the Millennium Indicators Database, which presents 48 social and economic indicators and related series by country and year since 1985, and the Social Indicators data set

UNSTATS Millennium Indicators Database

A framework of 8 goals, 18 targets and 48 indicators to measure progress towards the Millennium Development goals was adopted by a consensus of experts from the United Nations Secretariat and IMF, OECD and the World Bank. ( Road Map towards the Implementation of the United Nations Millennium Declaration. Each indicator is linked to millennium data series as well as to background series related to the target in question.

   

World Bank Data and Statistics

WB – Data and Statistics includes country-level indicator data on people, environment, economy, technology and infrastructure and trade and finance. The data for 1998, 2001and 2002 originate from the World Development Indicators database .

World Resource Institute EarthTrends

EARTHTRENDS is a World Resource Institute Environmental Information Portal containing maps, country profiles, data tables in for some 220 countries in 10 environmental theme areas including: coastal and marine ecosystems, water resources and freshwater ecosystems, climate and atmosphere, population health and human well-being, economics business and the environment, energy and resources, biodiversity and protected areas, agriculture and food, forests grasslands and drylands,  and environmental governance and institutions.
