National Workshop I

Yunnan Province, PRC
The
workshop was organized at Dian Chi Garden Hotel & Spa
in Kunming, Yunnan Province of PRC during 25-26 August 2004.
There were 33 participants attended the workshop. The participants
were members of the National Coordination Committee, experts
from academic institutes and other organizations. The priority
environmental concerns were identified, progress of work on
indicators selection were discussed and the next steps of
the project were explained. (Top)
Lao PDR
The
workshop was organized at Bolikhamxay Province of Lao PDR
during 30-31 August 2004. There were 54 participants attended
the workshop. The participants were from Science, Technology
and Environment Agency (STEA), and other agencies such as
Department of Irrigation, Agriculture, Forestry, Industry
& Handicraft, and Planning & Cooperation Department.
The priority environmental concerns and indicators were discussed,
and the next steps of what have to be done prior the next
workshop were explained. (Top)
Cambodia
The
Senior and Environment Minister, Dr. Mok Mareth opened the
workshop which was organized at Golden Sand Hotel, Sihanoukville,
Cambodia during 1-2 September 2004. There were about 45 participants
attended the workshop. The participants were from Ministry
of Environment, and other agencies such as Department of Forestry,
Economic and Planning, and also experts from universities.
The priority environmental concerns, policy objectives and
related indicators were discussed. The next steps of what
have to be done prior the next workshop were explained. (Top)
Thailand
The
workshop was organized at Cabbage & Condom Hotel in Pattaya,
Thailand during 3-5 September 2004. There were 33 participants
attended the workshop. The participants were officers from
Departments such as Department of Environmental Quality Promotion,
Pollution Control Department, Office of Environmental Policy
and Planning, and Forestry Department. There were also experts
from universities and other organizations. The priority environmental
concerns were identified, progress of work policy review and
indicators selection were discussed and the next steps of
the project were explained. (Top)
Vietnam
The
workshop was organized at Hoa Don Hotel in Hai Phong, Vietnam
during 6-7 September 2004. There were 30 participants attended
the workshop. The participants were officers from Ministry
of Environment and other Ministries, officers from planning
agencies, and officers from major cities of the country. There
were also experts from academic institutions. The priority
environmental concerns were identified. Vietnam environmental
strategy and indicators' selection were discussed with next
steps. Environmental problems in major cities such as Hai
Phong were also discussed to be as potential case studies.

The
workshop was organized at Grand Plaza Park Royal Hotel in
Yangon of Myanmar during 13-14 September 2004. There were
about 45 participants attended the workshop. The participants
were officers from National Commission for Environmental Affairs
of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and officers from other
Ministries such as Ministry of Forestry, Agriculture, and
Planning. There were also experts from academic institutions.
The priority environmental concerns were identified. Selection
of indicators were discussed and the next steps of the project
