Conclusion on Water issue

- Vietnam has a relative abundance of water resources. However, the water sources is unequally distributed over the seasons and regions. This therefore has been a disadvantage to meet the needs of  water supply for the whole country and led to the situation that water supply is over-much in flooding season but being deficient in dry season as well as the deficiency in water for daily life and production activities happens in some parts of the country.

- Almost untreated wastewater released from both domestic and industrial activities has directly discharged to the surface sources and waterways. This is causing the serious pollution of surface water in many areas such as Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Viet Tri, Bien Hoa etc. Surface water environment is mainly polluted by organic and nutrient substances.

- There has been lot of constraints and problems on the management of inland and sea water, including constraints on policies, legislative system, management mechanism, institutional organisation as well as human resource.
