UNEP strongly believes in including youth in its environmental
programmes and processes. UNEP has promoted civil society engagement
and participation. Youth are part of the civil society and UNEP has
encouraged youth participation in various discussions and forums. UNEP
believes that the youth should be a part of discussions and decision-making
processes at every level - starting from the grassroots level extending
all the way to the international platform. UNEP has adopted the "Youth
Strategy" - The long-term strategy on engagement and involvement
of young people in environmental issues, at its 22nd Governing Council
meeting in February 2003. UNEP has a section devoted solely to youth
and youth-related activities, called TUNZA.
TUNZA is UNEP's global strategy for youth and children.
