Bangladesh
Sustainable Development Strategy for Bangladesh Bangladesh presented its Country Report at the Earth Summit in 1992, Rio+5 meeting in 1997, Agenda 21 meeting in 1999 and World Summit for Sustainable Development (WSSD) and has ratified the Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s). Besides, UNFCC, UNCLOS, CBD and Basel Convention have been ratified. The country is committed to develop a national sustainable development strategy (NSDS) alongside adopting Agenda 21. The Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh has showed its enthusiasm and commitment to the Multilateral Environmental Agreement (MEAs). It has signed and ratified most of the Multilateral Environmental Agreements and several strategies and action plans have been formulated to fulfill its international commitments and support national development. It has also formulated several strategies and action plans to support several national and sectoral policies. Government of Bangladesh has prepared a policy document entitled " Unlocking the potential: National Strategy for Accelerated Poverty Reduction" which is termed as PRSP. This document has outlined a number of policy measures for achieving the millennium development goals. In addition, last September 2008, Bangladesh issued its Climate Change Action Plan.
