Robert Steele is the Director of Systainability Asia, a private consulting firm based in Bangkok, Thailand that works with Asian governments, NGOs, private sector companies and other groups to advance sustainability in the Asia-Pacific region. Systainability Asia assists its clients with sustainability-focused strategic planning, including the development of integrated sustainability indicator frameworks, providing systems analysis and organisational strategic capacity evaluation utilizing the AtKisson Accelerator suite of sustainability tools. Systainability Asia is also a leading regional-based consultant and training organisation on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
Robert also has over 17 years in experiential environmental education teaching, programme design and assessment, having worked in a variety of countries and organisations in the US, Africa, Guatemala, Thailand and the Asia-Pacific region. His work and interest currently center around assisting companies to conduct CSR and sustainability assessments, conduct sustainability planning and reporting. He has been a resource person with the UNEP/Tongji Leadership Programme since its inception in 2004.
His clients have included UNEP, ASEAN Secretariat, Singapore National Environment Agency, Metso Automation (Thailand), the University of Science Malaysia Regional Center for Expertise for ESD, the University of New South Wales' Faculty of Built Environment, the Malaysia Federal Town and Country Planning Department, Hanns Seidel Foundation - Indonesia and the Ministry of Environment & Natural Resources - Thailand, Ministry of Environment - Indonesia, and LEAD Indonesia, ANTAM mining (Indonesia), Indah Kiat Pulp and Paper, VVOB Vietnam, among others.
