Professor Mario T. Tabucanon, is currently on leave from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), where he serves as a member of the faculty since 1978. While holding an academic appointment at AIT, he also assumed from time to time various administrative positions, including Division Chairman, School Dean, Vice President (Academic), Provost and later briefly as President, before taking off for his sabbatical tenure starting July 2005.
His academic areas of expertise and interest are in operations research/management science, industrial engineering, multiple criteria decision making, as well as in sustainable development studies. While on leave from AIT, he currently serves as Senior Adviser to the UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development and as Visiting Professor of the United Nations University – Institute of Advanced Studies where he coordinates the promotion and establishment of Regional Centers of Expertise (RCE) in Asia and the Pacific.
