Mahesh Pradhan is Regional Environmental Affairs Officer for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, and is based in Bangkok, Thailand. With over 10 years of experience with UNEP at the regional level, Mahesh assists with the development and implementation of regional and sub-regional environmental action plans and policies, and liaison with political sub-regional entities such as ASEAN, SACEP, SPREP and TEMM.
Currently his focus areas are Northeast Asia and the South Pacific. He supports the Sub-regional Environmental Policy Dialogue, which brings together the five sub-regions of the Asia-Pacific, namely: Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia and the South Pacific. At the Regional Office, Mahesh coordinates the environment and education nexus for the Asia Pacific region. In particular, he oversees UNEP's partnership with Tongji University through the joint UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD) in Shanghai.
