Professor Lex Brown is the Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Griffith University. His research interests include Environmental Assessment and Planning, project environmental appraisal, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), Transportation, Environmental noise and soundscapes, International development, and environment and development, Human perception of environment.

Current research projects and international activities include quantification of the accessibility of urban development: sustainability in urban growth and renewal, integrating environmental modelling into transport travel demand modelling, effectiveness and efficiency in EIA, Strategic Environmental Assessment of plans and policies, and perception of soundscapes.
