Prof. Zhao Jianfu's tenured positions include vice resident of Tongji University, Dean of the IESD, Head of the expert panel focusing on environment pollution prevention technology as part of the "state 863 project", Chairman of the national expert panel to study the Three Gorges Project, Secretary-General of the National Education Association for undergraduate studies.

Prof. Zhao Jianfu has mostly worked in the field of water pollution control. Since 1989, he has attended or hosted more than 16 state level projects as well as many important events organized by other departments. Till now, he has published more than 40 articles on major journals and periodicals. He is also a recipient of numerous awards from the state government and the Science and Technology Ministry for his achievements.
